2009 – Present

The book that was a couple of years in development, and is available to purchase from our website (or if you're lucky enough to live in Wales you can get it as a free download from the Welsh Government) has now spawned a set of training days for those people working with the under 11s all the way down to toddlers.

People coming on these participation training courses have learned techniques for giving children a say in the issues which are important to them. It's all done through playful activity that allows information to come out in a way that can be seen and heard clearly by everyone.

The days have been received really well by participants who have told us how important it is to enable even the youngest children to have a chance to participate in decision making.

The Wales Spatial Plan update

Client: The Welsh Assembly government

Project: Dynamix held a Wales-wide consultation with children and young people in April and May 2008.  The Spatial Plan Group are updating the Spatial Plan which is a document that brings together all the government departments to plan what Wales should look and be like in the next 20 years.  Dynamix consulted young people on what they wanted Wales to be like for them in the future, what their concerns for the future were and how they can be involved with Spatial Planning in the future.  A report of the findings from young people was delivered to the Welsh Assembly and the young people involved received a young-person-friendly version of the findings. Consultation has now ended and the Assembly Members endorsed it. The press notice can be found at http://new.wales.gov.uk/about/strategy/spatial/?lang=en

Outdoor Learning, Play and Community Engagement

Over the past few years we have been lucky to be involved in a number of outdoor learning, play and engagement projects, particularly through a grant scheme called Cydcoed. Here is a downloadable pdf about these and some of the other projects we've been doing outdoors.

Maesycwmmer Outdoor Learning

Hooray, our British summer is here, get out the oil skins and batten down the hatches! Since January of this year various lucky Dynamix workers have been braving the elements in Coed Gwernau, Maesycwmmer.  We were employed by the local community council to work with local primary schools and youth groups to support them in exploring the community woodland. Through the clear blue, frost crisp days of February to April; seeing the bluebells flower and the trees come into leaf we played in the woods with all the pupils from maesycwmmer Primary school, a class from Trinity Fields school and a group of young people from the local youth club. Sessions were based around the log circle and a fire pit where we cooked marshmallows and popcorn and led sorties off into the woods to explore, build dens, play games and search for the disappearing puppets! This was a wonderful piece of 'work' so big thanks to GIll Thomas and all in Maesycwmmer Community Council for bringing us in. See gallery for more pictures.

Training programme for young people

Client: Welsh Assembly Government

Project: The Welsh Assembly Government has contracted Dynamix and partner Continyou Cymru to run a Wales wide Participation training project. The training is targeted at young people who are more difficult to engage and from groups not previously involved in an attempt to widen access to participation understanding and knowledge. The training will reach 2000 young people over the next year between the ages of 11 and 19.

CASE

Client: Partnership project (CLADA, Mid-counties Co-op Society, East of England Co-op Society, 1st Question Co-operative, Dynamix Ltd)

Project: In addition to the roll out in Wales of the CASE project Dynamix is working on many different levels to continue its development (the CASE project is summarised on www.case4us.com). In particular Dynamix is a partner in a consortium which intends to make CASE a ‘national’ enterprise alternative to the other enterprise education on offer in schools across the UK. It intends to do this by developing the consortium into a formal organisation which can advocate for the project and drive it forward. The consortium is currently seeking funding to develop this project. Dynamix is also seeking funding to employ a development worker in Wales to look at aligning the project to the emerging 14 – 19 curriculum and particularly the Welsh Baccalaureate.
