European and International Examples

Altering Attitudes - Wales, 2008

Country: Wales Feb 2008

Work: Dynamix ran another European training project under the Youth In Action programme. The training happened at the Stackpole Centre, Pembrokeshire. Partners in the project included, JCDC from Lithuania, ACTOR from Romania, Theatre Tsvete from Bulgaria, Dravinja Youth Centre from Slovenia, Infoeck from Austria and Barcelona Voluntaria, Spain. The training explored Horizontal Equality, that is the idea that there are many similarities between the different equalities (e.g. gender, race, disability) and how they are manifest in society. The training explored our own attitudes to different groups in society, where they come from, how to alter them and then to take that learning to share with others.

 

Youth In Action programme hosting, Wales 

Country: Wales 2007

Work: Intern from Poland and Job Shadowing from Lithuania. Dynamix took on a Polish intern, Marta Wanat, for 4 months who was looking at co-operative business structures and examining Dynamix’s approach to participative training. Through Action 4.3 of the Youth In Action programme Dynamix hosted 2 Lithuanians Magas and Olga who closely followed a number of summer play training programmes with a view to setting up similar programmes back home.

 

EuroIn2Play - Denmark 

Country: Denmark 2007

Work: A EuroIn2Play training was held in Denmark in August this year with participants from Estonia, Denmark, Portugal, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Slovenia and Austria.

 

EuroIn2Play Training Course 

Country: Wales 2006 & 2007

Work: Delivery of EuroIn2Play training course. A week long adaptation of the Skillsactive endorsed In2Play training course with participants from Wales, Lithuania, Romania and Portugal. This course culminated in a similar course in Denmark (see below) and a repeat course in Wales with 3 new states involved, Bosnia Herzegovina, Macedonia, Austria and Wales.

 

Youth In Action Programme 

Country: Turkey 2006

Work: Attended a training course in how to write good bids for Action 4.3 of the Youth In Action programme. As this funding has formed a key part of the development of Dynamix European work Chris Dow went to Antalya to find out more about the process and to make links with other youth work organisations.

 

Working With UNICEF 

Country: Tanzania 2006

Work: 10 days training for UNICEF workers in ‘using participative practices with young people’. Pete Duncan and Sophie Cooper travelled to Dar es Salaam to work with a group of African UNICEF workers to help them improve their practical participation skills. Part of the training was learning the theory behind participation and then the theory was put into practice with local groups.
